Shares of 130 regional banks (at the state level) in the US fell more than 5% yesterday, Thursday, according to data from a website that tracks the US banking sector.
The decrease occurred in light of concerns about the safety of the US banking sector, in the light of a wave of withdrawals of deposits, and also after the decision of the US Federal Reserve to raise the main interest rate.
U.S. local bank stocks posted strong losses, led by Bacoist shares, which fell more than 45%.
Yesterday, the Wall Street stock market closed lower, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.86% to 33127.74 points.
The S&P 500 fell 0.72% to 4,061.22 and the Nasdaq fell 0.49% to 11,966.40.
