5.3-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Mediterranean Coast

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said on Tuesday that a 5.3-magnitude earthquake shook the Mediterranean Sea off the southern coast of Greece.

The quake occurred at 7:35 p.m. local time (4:35 p.m. GMT), at a depth of 4.22 kilometers (2.6 miles), according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Agency.

The Geodynamic Institute in Athens said the epicenter of the quake included the area between the islands of Kythira and Crete.
