Al-Ahly Star Kahraba Fined Heavily by Egyptian Federation.
The head of the Egyptian Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee, Izzat Khamis, formally notified Al Ahly on Tuesday that striker Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahraba was suspended for 12 matches and fined £1 million to be paid within a month.
The imposition of this punishment on Kahraba comes amid a complaint by the Zamalek club against him for insulting his fans after El Clasico at the fourteenth stage of the Egyptian League in January last year.
The disciplinary committee also decided to punish Zamalek club president Mortada Mansour by banning him from any matches for two months and fined him £300,000 in response to Al Ahly club’s complaint against him for abusive behaviour. statements by Kahraba and the Al-Ahli club.
The head of the Disciplinary Committee said in a press statement: “Kahraba was suspended for 12 matches and it is natural that the complaints committee was not aware of this decision as the injured party had not yet filed an appeal.”
He added: “In accordance with the Egyptian law concerned, he files a complaint against the decision as soon as he is informed of it within 10 days from the date of the decision, and in the case of an appeal against the decision, the fine remains in force until the issue is resolved and there will be no official decision to reduce the fine, maintain it in its current form or cancel it.”
He stressed that the decision to stop Kahrab does not allow him to play the local super match, which will be held on May 5 next year in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, as well as any match organized by the Egyptian Football Association.
And the head of the Complaints Committee, Adel Al-Shorbagi, announced on Monday in television statements that the committee had not yet received any decision from the Egyptian Football Association regarding Kahraba’s halt.
He added that if a decision is made to suspend a player, the latter has the right to appeal, at which time the execution of the suspension decision will be stopped until the complaint is resolved.
Tomorrow Wednesday, Al Ahly’s board of directors will hold an emergency meeting to respond to Kahraba’s punishment, and news from the club indicates that there is a trend towards a decision to pull out of the local supermatch against Zamalek.
