Al Ahly’s Egyptian Coach Expresses Triumph after Four-Goal Victory over Zamalek
Al Ahly club manager Marcel Koller of Switzerland praised his side’s performance after defeating rivals Zamalek 4-1 on Thursday night in a postponed match of week 31 of the Egyptian Football League.
Kohler said during the post-match press conference: “We had a great run and scored three goals, but I knew the second half was going to be tough because it was hard to stay focused after advancing towards the result and I asked the players not to relax between the two halves, and I tried to renew their motivation.”
He added: “I expected Zamalek to feel insulted as they are a great team and they went into the second half to compensate and they had two chances besides the crossbar and a wonderful save from Al. -Shennavi (Al-Ahly goalkeeper), but we scored the fourth goal and achieved a well-deserved result.
And he continued: “After winning the CAF Champions League and then finishing the league, it’s hard to get motivated again, in addition to the fact that a 4-1 win (against Zamalek) is a great result that will go down in history.”
It should be noted that Al Ahly’s victory over Zamalek was only a moral victory, given that the Red Genie secured the Egyptian League title crown in the last round.
