Algeria’s President Offers to Mediate in Ukrainian Conflict

Tunisia, March 22 – President of the Arab Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune said, in an interview with Al Jazeera, that Algeria can become a mediator in resolving the crisis in Ukraine, as it is one of the countries that has sufficient confidence in that.
“Algeria is capable of playing a mediating role in the Ukrainian crisis. We are among the few countries that have enough confidence in that,” Tebboune told the TV channel.
Earlier, Algerian National Assembly Speaker Salah Gudzil said, in a meeting with Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko, who was visiting the republic on an official visit, that Algeria is ready to use its position in the world and mediate dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.

The Algerian president also said, during an interview with Al Jazeera, that his visit to Russia is scheduled for next May. Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, said that preparations for Tebboune’s visit to Russia had begun, but the dates had not yet been set.
