Altai Territory’s 1,200 hectare natural fire successfully put out

Barnaul, June 20 – A natural fire of 1,200 hectares has been extinguished in the Altai Territory, and the fire area has increased 15 times overnight, the head of the region, Viktor Tomenko, wrote on his Telegram channel.

It was determined that the BE-200ChS amphibious aircraft of the Aviation Rescue Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was used to eliminate the fire. The site employs 199 people, these are employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Borovlyansky Forestry, “Altailes”, tenants of forest plots. They have 59 fire engines and other necessary equipment at their disposal.

“There is my operational headquarters for extinguishing the fire. I will hold a meeting today with the participation of regional leaders in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Interior, the head of the region and other officials. We will discuss the situation and work plans immediately. If there is a need for reinforcement, we will take the necessary decisions,” wrote the head of the region.
