Analyzing the Latest US Inflation Figures
Official data showed that the US annual inflation rate slowed to 6% last February, the lowest level since September 2021.
The result was in line with market expectations and compared to 6.4% registered in January. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics said the US annual inflation rate slowed to 6% last month.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index rose 0.4% in February after rising 0.5% in the previous month.
Energy and fuel oil prices declined as gasoline prices fell 2% after rising 1.5% in January.
However, the base rate, excluding food and energy prices, rose to 0.5% from 0.4% compared to forecasts of 0.4%.
