Moscow, January 29 – Dutch star Anish Giri became the winner of the international home chess tournament at the Tata Steel Masters in Wijk aan Zee, and Norwegian world champion Magnus Carlsen shared the second and third places.
On Sunday, Jerry defeated the representative of Hungary, Richard Report, in the final match, round 13, and beat Uzbek coach Noderbek Abdustarov, who was in the lead before the round.
Abdustarov himself lost to Dutchman Jorden van Voorst, and Carlsen eventually caught up to the Uzbek chess player, Arjun Erigesi of India.

Jerry scored 8.5 points at the end of the tournament, last year’s tournament winner Carlsen and Abdul Sattar – 8 points each. Also in the top five were Wesley So (USA, 7.5) and Fabiano Caruana (USA, 7). The Russians did not participate in the tournament.
