Attack in Northern Burkina Faso Claims Lives of Around 60 People

Moscow, April 24 – And the French news agency, quoting a local official, said that nearly 60 people were killed by unknown persons in military uniform.
He added that the injured were evacuated and are receiving medical care.

According to local residents, citing survivors of the attack, more than a hundred armed men in military uniforms on motorcycles and pickup trucks attacked the village of Karma in Yatenga district, killing many civilians.
Earlier, local authorities reported that six military personnel and 34 auxiliary personnel were killed as a result of an attack by militants in northern Burkina Faso. As stated in the statement, a military detachment and “Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland” were attacked near the village of Orima in the northern region of the country.
In April, the authorities of Burkina Faso announced a general mobilization to combat radical jihadists. The country in the African Sahel region has been trying to contain its ongoing onslaught since 2015.
