Avangard Triumphs Over Metallurg in Gagarin Cup Quarter-Final Opening Match

Moscow, March 17 – Omsk “Vanguard” in overtime defeated Magnitogorsk “Metallurg” in the first match of the second round of the playoffs of the Continental Hockey League (KHL).

The meeting in Omsk ended with a score of 2: 1 (1: 0, 0: 1, 0: 0, 1: 0) in favor of the hosts. Reed Boucher (11 minutes) and Arseny Gritsyuk (69) scored among the winners. Semyon Koshelev (32) scored a goal for the guests.

For the goalkeeper of the Magnitogorsk club, Eduard Pascual, the meeting was the 200th in the KHL.

Avangard took the lead in the series up to four wins – 1-0. The second match of the 1/4 Gagarin Cup finals will be held in Omsk on March 19.
