Breaking Records: Player Sets Penalties Record at Russian Championship

Moscow, April 23 – The Russian Premier League record for the number of penalties awarded in one round was repeated in the 24th round match between Nizhny Novgorod and Krylia Sovetov from Samara.

The striker of the Nizhny Novgorod team, Timur Suleymanov, became the ninth in the current round. The same number of shots were taken from the 11-meter mark in round 21 of the 2005 season.

Suleymanov converted the penalty kick and equalized the score (1: 1) in the first half of the match.
Earlier in the first two matches of the twenty-fourth round – “Khimki” – “Torpedo” (4: 2) and “Vakil” – “Orenburg” (1: 3) – the referee appointed three penalty kicks each. An 11-meter kick fell on the meetings “Ural” – “Rostov” (1: 3) and “Zenith” – “Dynamo” (3: 1).
