The meeting in Tampere ended with a score of 4: 2 (0: 1, 1: 1, 3: 0). Among the winners were Samuel Blue (36th), Jack Quinn (41st), Adam Fantelli (49th) and Scott Lawton (60th). Dans Lochmelis (9) and Rudolfs Balcers (37) scored for the Latvian team.
Canadian hockey players have reached the World Cup final for the fourth time in a row. In the final, the North American team will play the meeting winners of the USA and Germany. The Latvian national team will play for the first time in the World Championship bronze medal match, previously the team never made it past the quarter-finals.
The World Championships will end on May 28th. Initially, the tournament was supposed to be hosted by St. Petersburg, but the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) denied Russia the right to host the competition. The Russian national team will miss the World Cup finals for the second year in a row.
