The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed the appeal made by the Russian cycling team “Gazprom-Rosvello” against the decision of the International Cycling Union (UCI) to suspend their participation in UCI-sanctioned competitions, as reported on the UCI website.
Background
The appeal from the Russian team was submitted to the Court of Arbitration for Sport on March 22, 2023.
UCI’s Decision
On March 1, 2022, the UCI announced that both the Russian and Belarusian national teams were ineligible to participate in international cycling competitions. Consequently, the status of cycling teams from Russia and Belarus, including Gazprom-Rosvelo, was revoked.
