China announced the discovery of oil
The China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) announced in a statement the discovery of a major oil field in the Bohai Gulf in the Yellow Sea with reserves of 100 million tons of crude oil.
A statement posted on the official website of the Chinese company said: “On March 1, the China National Offshore Oil Corporation announced the discovery of the Bojong 26-6 field with oil reserves of 100 million tons in the Bohai Bay (Yellow Sea off the coast of northeast China).”
The company estimates that the well at the field is capable of producing about 2,040 barrels of crude oil and 320,000 cubic meters of gas per day.
The oil field is located in the southern part of the Bohai Bay of the Yellow Sea, about 170 km from Tianjin.
