The Chinese Embassy in Washington has announced that Beijing will resume issuing all types of visas that will allow tourists arriving in China to enter the country from March 15.

Today, Monday, the Chinese Embassy announced that the issuance of visas issued before March 28, 2020, which have not yet expired, will be resumed due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to a statement from the Chinese embassy, it is planned to allow visa-free entry for tourists to a number of places in China, including Hainan Island, as well as cruise ship passengers stopping in Shanghai.

On January 8, China lifted quarantine and PCR testing of arrivals in its territory as part of the easing of anti-epidemic measures and moving away from the “zero Covid” policy.

Chinese authorities previously announced that they would resume issuing visas, temporary residence permits and visa-free transit procedures within 24, 72 and 144 hours, as well as issuing temporary entry permits, but did not specify when these procedures would resume.
