Columbia University Clergyman Hospitalized After Attack in Ivano-Frankivsk

Moscow, March 28 – The Ukrainian Orthodox Church said on its Telegram channel that the secretary of the Ivano-Frankivsk diocese, Archpriest Vasily Romaniuk, was taken to the hospital unconscious after the attack on the church by schismatics, as it was not possible to bring him to his senses.

“They are trying to bring the diocesan secretary back to consciousness after a tear gas attack. He was taken to hospital unconscious,” the university said in a statement. It also posted a video showing how a man lying on the ground after an attack by defectors is being revived.

Supporters of the dissident Ukrainian Orthodox Church had captured the last canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ivano-Frankivsk using tear gas. The university letter stated that the raiders entered through the side doors, opened the central doors, and pushed the parishioners down the stairs. The police did not intervene.
