Vladivostok, April 17 – Law enforcement officers have completed the investigation of the criminal case against the former chairman of the Duma of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Alexander Maslov, who is accused of receiving illegal rewards for himself, reports the regional SUSK of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigation, in the period from 2019 to 2021, the person concerned issued illegal orders to establish and pay quarterly and annual bonuses to himself based on the results of the work, for which the district Duma did not make decisions regarding their appointment. As reported by SUSK in November 2021, damage to the region’s budget amounted to more than 8.9 million rubles. In December 2021, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinstein, wrote that Maslov had been accused of abuse of his position, and the damage from his actions could rise to 12.5 million rubles. The court arrested Maslov. He does not admit guilt.
“Investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug have completed the investigation of a criminal case against the former Chairman of the State Duma of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, accused of two crimes under Part 2 of Article 286. of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of power from before a person holding a public office in one of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation) ”, – says the letter.

The criminal case was sent to the Public Prosecutor for approval of the indictment and subsequent transfer to court. The investigation shows that the damages from the defendant’s actions exceeded 16.3 million rubles.
According to SUSK, also due to the quarterly bonuses illegally received by the defendant and the increased monthly bonuses, he initially received a monthly supplement to the old-age life insurance pension of 289 thousand rubles more than he was entitled to. At the stage of preliminary investigation, it is reduced.
The court confiscated the property of the defendants in the amount of more than 46 million rubles.
In November 2021, Khenstein stated that the United Russia party had expelled Maslov. According to Khinshtein, illegal rewards are not the only abuse that the former speaker of the Chukotka Duma is suspected of, the investigation is also investigating other illegal episodes.
Maslov has served as the speaker of the State Duma of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug at the sixth meeting of the three-member Western constituency No. 2 since September 18, 2016.
