Court Upholds Detention of Defendants in Crimean Bridge Explosion Case

Moscow, March 6 – The Basmanny Court of Moscow extended until April 12 the detention period of five defendants in the case of the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, the court informed the News Agency.
Earlier, the detention period was extended for three more defendants – Alexander Belin, Dmitry Hevey and Oleg Antipov.

The Basmanny Court arrested Antipov, Pelin and Hevi in mid-October last year. They were charged with committing a terrorist attack by a group of people, and the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for a prison sentence of 12 to 20 years. Azatyan, Solomko, Zloba and Terchanyan were detained in Simferopol.
On the Krymsky Bridge early in the morning of October 8 last year, a truck exploded – as a result, seven fuel tanks caught fire on a railway train, and two cars partially collapsed from the bridge. The Russian FSB stated that the organizer of the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge was the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and its head personally Kirill Budanov. The IED was camouflaged in rolls with a structural polyethylene film on 22 pallets with a total weight of approximately 22.8 tons.
