Cremonese brings a big surprise to the Italian capital Rome!
‘Humble’ club Cremonese pulled off a major surprise by beating ancient Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
The Cremonese inflicted a crushing 2-1 defeat on Roma in their backyard in a match that brought them together on Wednesday evening at the Stadio Olimpico in the capital Rome.
Nigerian striker Cyril Deserts scored the first goal for the guests from the penalty spot, in the 28th minute of the first half.
While the second goal came on “friendly fire” scored by Turkish defender Zaki Celik, Roma scored an own goal in the 49th minute.
As for Roma’s lone goal, it came from the foot of veteran striker Andrea Belotti as the meeting was on its last legs.
The Cremonese club, the “conqueror of the greats”, which also knocked out the Naples team from the sixteenth round, made an appointment in the semifinals of the competition with the Fiorentina team, which, in turn, beat their guest Turin, with the same score (2-1 ) in the match that took place between them earlier in the evening.
