The firm said, “From the beginning of development, Archangel Studios has always been honest with its fans regarding using Epic Marketplace assets.

The statement said, “Although just 10% of the game has been outsourced in this way, it has greatly sped up the development process. It was a crucial resource for the four-year development as a three-person studio. The assets mentioned above were legitimately acquired through the Epic Marketplace with the idea that Epic had properly vetted and reviewed them before putting them for sale.

According to Archangel Studios, it immediately contacted Epic Games to look into the situation. The escalation team at Epic informed them in a response that the assets could not be confirmed.

According to Archangel Studios, Epic responded, “According to the Marketplace Distribution Agreement, each Marketplace seller declares and warrants to Epic that they have appropriate rights to publish their content. Yet, “Epic is not in a position to independently check such rights, and Epic makes no such guarantee to consumers of the content, as with any store that hosts third-party content.”

As a result of the studio’s dissatisfaction with Epic’s answer, it has been decided to replace the store-bought assets over the coming days. “We made several adjustments in the most recent patches, and more will be made in the upcoming days. This incident has undoubtedly taught us — and hopefully other independent producers — a valuable lesson: “Assets on online shops seem impossible to purchase in good faith.”

On March 10, Bleak Faith: Forsaken was made available for PC.
