Difficult-to-Detect Indicators of Uncommon Cancer: Six Signs to Watch Out For

Cancer is a disease that occurs when abnormal cells divide in an uncontrolled manner, sometimes spreading to other tissues.
Lung cancer often causes a persistent cough, and bowel cancer usually causes changes when going to the toilet.
However, in some cases, the disease may be without symptoms at all, or the signs may be “difficult to detect.” This is the case when it comes to peritoneal cancer, cancer that starts in the peritoneum, the thin layer of tissue that lines the inside of the abdomen.
The main role of the peritoneum is to cover the organs inside the abdomen, such as the intestines and liver, where it acts as a barrier to infection.
It also produces a fluid that allows the organs to move inside the abdomen.
There are a number of health problems that can affect the peritoneum, including cancer, although this is “rare.”
The Cleveland Clinic explains: “Primary peritoneal cancer is very rare. Healthcare professionals diagnose less than seven cases per million each year. But these numbers can be somewhat misleading. Researchers estimate that up to 15% of women with advanced ovarian cancer may develop peritoneal cancer already.” .
Unfortunately, the symptoms of peritoneal cancer are easily confused with other problems.
Cancer Research UK reports: “The symptoms of primary peritoneal cancer can be very subtle and difficult to detect. Many of the symptoms are likely caused by other diseases.”
However, there are six main signs that you should be aware of.
Flatulence.
– stomach ache.
Constipation or diarrhea.
I feel sick.
Feeling of bloating.
– Anorexia.
Cancer Research UK adds: “Primary peritoneal cancer (meaning it starts in the peritoneum) mostly affects women. It is very rare in men.”
If you experience any of the unexplained symptoms listed above, you should contact your healthcare provider.
