Disclosure of the price and details of the launch in Egypt of the first domestically produced electric car
Mohamed Al-Ghamri, Dean of Applied Research at the Arab Academy of Sciences, Technology and Maritime Transport and founder of Innovate Egypt, revealed the details of the launch of Egypt’s first self-made electric vehicle.
He said that cars are the seventh largest import of Egypt from abroad, and the production of a local electric car will benefit the trade balance and reduce import costs.
Al-Ghamri added during a televised speech on Tuesday evening that there are 5.5 million vehicles in Egypt, 6% of which are taxis, 94% are private owners, 80% of which are used within cities, stressing that the cost of operating electric vehicles is a third of the cost of cars running on gasoline.
The Dean of Applied Research of the Arab Academy and the founder of Innovate Egypt added that the main components of the Egyptian electric vehicle are imported from abroad, and we plan to move from 60% production to 100% local production of components. Egyptian electric car.
