Egypt.. 9 doctors for every 10,000 inhabitants

Records from the Medical Syndicate in Egypt showed that the number of doctors registered with the Syndicate and licensed to practice, excluding pensioners, reached 228,862 doctors as of March 20, an increase of 16,027 doctors.

Records showed that 11,536 male and female doctors retired, bringing the number of doctors working in the public sector to approximately 93,536 thousand doctors, and the ratio of doctors in the public sector to the number of doctors licensed to practice until reaching retirement age. is 40.8%, an increase of only 2.8% since the beginning of 2019.

The doctor-to-citizen ratio is increasing to 9.2% of doctors per 10,000 inhabitants from 8.6% at the beginning of 2019, but remains far from the estimated global average of 23 doctors per 10,000 inhabitants.

The Egyptian website Al-Osboa has released the latest statistics on doctor layoffs in Egypt, stating that the number of doctors who quit during 2022 has reached about 4,600 doctors.

He stated that as a result, the General Syndicate of Physicians called for an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli to discuss all the obstacles and challenges facing the medical community.
