The Egyptian Cabinet has announced that Egypt will produce the first electric vehicle locally with the aim of localizing the production of electric vehicles.

The Prime Minister of Egypt held a meeting to review the Egyptian electric car production project, where he inspected the models of produced cars in the courtyard of the Council of Ministers, where he demanded work to increase the local content, and pay attention to the quality of the product.

The Minister of Higher Education expressed his joy at the opportunity to present the Egyptian Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Model, which links scientific research to industry, which we place on our high-priority agenda, noting that this model was developed on behalf of the Prime Minister. after it was presented to him at the exhibition.

Production of the city-specific vehicle will begin within 6 months with a local content of 60%, and work to increase the local content to 90% will begin within 24 months of production as part of a research project funded by the Academy. scientific research and technology to develop all electronic and electrical components on site.

An electric vehicle production complex will be set up on an area of ​​50 thousand square meters, and measures will be taken to deepen the local component in mechanical design, motors and electronic circuits to 100%. The project aims to meet the needs of the Egyptian market for various models, as well as the development of Egyptian car designs produced by high-level national personnel.

Foreign companies have expressed their readiness to become partners for the establishment of a plant for the production of batteries for electric vehicles, as well as for the production of engines on the spot.

The speed of the new car is 45 km/h on specification, or 60 km/h, and it will run on electricity, which the Prime Minister has given prior approval to this effect by taking special measures for this.
