Egypt plans to boost link capacity with Libya to 2000 megawatts
Egyptian Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker said the ministry is conducting studies to discuss the possibility of increasing the capacity of the connecting line with Libya from 150 megawatts to 2,000 megawatts.
The minister indicated in statements to Seventh Day that the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company is currently conducting studies to increase the voltage of the link between Egypt and Libya from 220 kV to 500 kV, noting that the capacity was increased in January last year. from 100 megawatts to 150 megawatts at the request of the Libyan side.
He said the ministry is currently exploring the possibility of increasing the capacity of the connecting line between Egypt and Jordan from 450 megawatts to 1,100 megawatts at 400 kilovolts, indicating that the goal of the electrical interconnection projects is to turn Egypt into a global energy hub by linking it to Africa. , Europe and the Gulf countries, noting that these projects will bring huge economic benefits to Egypt through a complex process, noting that the electrical connection is being explored in the south towards the African continent to take advantage of the huge hydropower potential in Africa.
He emphasized that these projects will work to absorb the huge energy that will be generated from clean energy.
