EgyptAir to Resume Direct Flights from Cairo to Port Sudan
EgyptAir, the national airline of Egypt, has announced that it will be launching its first direct flights from Cairo to Port Sudan in northeast Sudan starting from September 1. The airline will operate one flight per day on this route.
Background
It is worth mentioning that EgyptAir had suspended its flights to Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, in April last year due to the turbulent situation prevailing in the country. The suspension was a result of the clashes and confrontations that had erupted in Sudan during that period.

Sudanese Army Chief’s Visit
Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, the commander-in-chief of the Sudanese army, made his first appearance in the city of Port Sudan after more than four months of war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces. This visit is significant as it marks a positive development in the ongoing conflict.
In addition to his visit to Port Sudan, Al-Burhan also paid a visit to Egypt on Tuesday, where he met with the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This visit is considered Al-Burhan’s first foreign visit since the clashes began.
