The media center of the Egyptian Council of Ministers advised citizens to be careful when buying gold in the country’s jewelry stores.

The center confirmed that the Ministry of Supply is launching periodic inspection campaigns by the Office of Seals and Scales in all stores selling gold jewelry and artifacts in the markets to ensure the caliber of artifacts and gold bars.

The Ministry of Supply has urged citizens to ensure that gold bars and items are stamped when they are purchased and not to purchase any gold items without receiving a documented invoice.

The Media Center of the Council of Ministers denied the reports of some media, websites and social media pages about the spread of counterfeit gold bars in the markets.

The Media Center of the Council of Ministers contacted the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, which denied these reports, stressing that there is no truth in the distribution of counterfeit gold bars on the markets, stressing that all gold bars circulating on the markets are approved and stamped by the Department of Seals and Weights and their customers are issued documented invoices.
