Egypt’s Al-Ahly to Face Arab Team in Quarter-Finals of African Champions League.

Next Wednesday evening, the attention of African football fans will be riveted to the headquarters of the African Football Confederation (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt, where the Champions League quarter-final draw will take place.

Six out of eight Arab clubs have reached the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League, namely: Al Ahly (Egypt), Esperance Sportive (Tunisia), Vidad Athletic and Raja Athletic (Morocco), J. S. The teams advancing to the quarter-finals will be divided into two levels: leaders and runners-up, and each first-place team will face one of the second-place teams.

Two teams from the same group cannot face each other in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League, but two teams from the same national federation can.

Al Ahli club finished second in the second group table (B) with 10 points, two points behind the leader of the Mamelodi Sundowns standings and therefore the Egyptian team will face one of the top clubs in their groups and it is the Moroccan Raja, the leader of the third group, and the Moroccan Wydad, the leader of the first group, the Tunisian Esperance, who is the leader of group D.
