Emirates Airlines performs first test flight with sustainable fuel

The Al-Khaleej newspaper reported that Emirates Airlines succeeded in conducting its first test flight on an aircraft powered by sustainable fuel.

On Monday, January 30, Emirates Airlines successfully test-flighted one of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft powered by two GE90 engines, one of which used 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

According to the publication, the above-mentioned aircraft took off on Monday, January 30, from Dubai International Airport, led by Captain Khaled Nasser Akram and Captain Wali Fajidar, and flew along the coast of Dubai for more than an hour.

The newspaper pointed out that the move, taken by Emirates Airlines in partnership with industry leaders, is helping to advance the commercial aviation sector’s efforts towards sustainability and reducing dependence on conventional fuels, and the flight is helping to kick-start the industry’s collective efforts to secure the future. aviation on 100% sustainable fuels, and contributes to the achievement of the UAE’s sustainable development goals.
