European Championship won by wrestler who switched nationalities to Russia

Moscow, April 19 – Greek freestyle wrestler Doren Koroglyev wins gold at the 2023 European Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.
Earlier, the head of the Wrestling Federation of Dagestan, coach of athletes Gaidar Gadyrov, told the News Agency that Koroglev had changed his nationality and would represent the Greek national team at the European Championships in Zagreb. The athlete decided to play for the Greek national team because of his desire to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
In the final fight in the weight category up to 86 kg, Koroglev was stronger than San Marino representative Miles Emin – 3: 1.

Koroglev, a native of Derbent, won the European Championship in 2017, won the second European Games in 2019, won the World Cups in 2019 and 2020 (in the weight category up to 86 kilograms).
The European Championship will be held in Zagreb from 17 to 23 April.
