European Union Bans Croatian Dynamo Fans from Attending Away Matches After Deadly Brawl in Athens
Fans of Croatian Football Team Banned from Attending European Matches
The European Union has announced that fans of the Croatian football team, Dynamo from Zagreb, have been prohibited from attending the team’s away matches in European competitions for the remainder of the season. This decision comes after a recent incident in Athens where there was a violent clash between local AEK and Dinamo fans, resulting in one fatality and the postponement of a Champions League qualifying match. Despite this setback, Dynamo managed to secure a draw in the second leg of the match and will now proceed to the play-off round of the Europa League qualifiers. Their next match is against Sparta Prague on August 24 and 31.
Violence Mars Dynamo’s European Campaign
In Athens on August 7, a tragic incident occurred when a brawl erupted between fans of AEK and Dinamo, causing the death of one person. As a consequence, the scheduled Champions League qualifying match was delayed. Eventually, the match took place, but AEK emerged victorious with a score of 2-1. The following encounter ended in a 2-2 draw, allowing Dynamo to progress to the play-off round of the Europa League qualifiers.
Upcoming Match against Sparta Prague
Dynamo will face Sparta Prague in the play-off round of the Europa League qualifiers on August 24 and 31. This crucial match will determine whether Dynamo advances to the group stage of the competition.
