Pittsburgh Penguins’ Russian forward, Evgeni Malkin, stated that the team has shown significant improvement compared to the previous season of the National Hockey League (NHL).

By the end of the 2022/23 regular season, Pittsburgh Penguins achieved 91 points in 82 games and secured the ninth position in the Eastern Conference standings. Shockingly, the team failed to qualify for the NHL playoffs, marking the first time in 17 years.
Pittsburgh Penguins Make Changes in Management and Roster
Following the conclusion of the regular season, Pittsburgh Penguins’ ownership decided to dismiss Brian Burke, the club’s president of hockey operations, along with general manager Ron Hextall and assistant Chris Pryor. Kyle Dubas was appointed as Pittsburgh’s new president of hockey operations in June. Additionally, the team made significant trades, acquiring three-time Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson and forward Riley Smith.
