Moscow, January 25 – Germany’s decision to send 14 Leopards to Kyiv will not affect the fighting in Ukraine, but it will be an important step in terms of returning German military potential to the territory of the former Soviet Union: in fact, for the first time since World War II, German tanks will fight against Russia, RIA said. Doctor of Political Science, Associate Professor at the Faculty of World Politics, Moscow State University, according to the News Agency. MV Lomonosov Alexei Vinenko.
Earlier, the German cabinet announced that the government had decided to send 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, and Berlin said the decision was made after “intensive negotiations” with partners.
“The FRG uses the current situation as a window of opportunity to re-establish its military potential, because Germany is still a country with limited military capabilities, and the 1990 Treaty defined the limits for the development of its military potential,” said Finenko.

According to the expert, there are now discussions in Germany that “the results of World War II should be forgotten, Germany should be allowed to have a powerful military-industrial complex, use force abroad” and “the ability to have large armed forces as the vanguard of the West.”
Moreover, Germany authorizes the use of its weapons outside its national borders and on the territory of the former Soviet Union, that is, in fact, we are at war with Germany and German military equipment on the territory of the former Soviet Union and the Russian Empire for the third time in the past hundred years, which sets a precedent for them to appear their own forces in Eastern Europe.
At the same time, according to Vinenko, Berlin’s decision to supply tanks to Kyiv will in no way affect the fighting: “This is a legal precedent for the entry of German tanks into the territory of the former Soviet Union.”
