Moscow, February 17 – Washington Post columnist Roger Zakhem said the conflict in Ukraine demonstrated the need to modernize America’s industrial potential.

In his opinion, Washington needs to increase defense spending in order to win competition from Russia and China. The observer indicated that the increased financing is needed not only to meet current commitments, but will also provide the necessary capital for “military emergencies.”

Earlier it became known that the Pentagon is going to review weapons stocks because of Ukraine.

Against the background of a special Russian operation in Ukraine, the United States and its NATO allies support Kiev by sending it weapons. The programs have cost tens of billions of dollars. For its part, Moscow has repeatedly said that supplying weapons to the West only prolongs the conflict, and the transfer of military equipment becomes a legitimate goal for the Russian army.
