Moscow, January 18 – The head of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation, Valery Fadeev, asked the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Igor Krasnov, to take up the case of journalist Alexandra Bayazitova.
Earlier, Alexey Melnikov, a member of the Human Rights Council, examined the conditions of detention of Bayazitova, accused of extortion. According to him, she is supplied with medicines in the detention center in a timely manner and in the required quantity, but in the conditions of the pre-trial detention center, due to the limited capabilities of the medical unit, “it is impossible to quickly provide assistance in a number of areas of medicine, and Bayazitova has a number of chronic diseases.”
