Moscow, February 7 – Five wrestlers have been rescued from the rubble after a devastating earthquake occurred in Kahramanmaras province (Turkey), Haber Global reports, citing a statement from the Turkish Wrestling Federation.
Turkish Olympic champion Taha Akgül said on Monday that the sports club building in Kahramanmaras province, which housed 30 to 40 wrestlers, was completely destroyed. They were trapped under the rubble.
Earlier, the Turkish Minister of Youth and Sports, Mehmet Kasapoglu, said that all sporting events in Turkey had been suspended until further notice.

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck, Monday morning, southeastern Turkey. According to the latest data, 2,379 people died in Turkey, and more than 14,000 were injured. Damage was also reported in several Syrian regions, and tremors were felt in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, by residents. In Syria, the death toll is currently more than 700, and more than 1,430 have been injured.
