Foreigner Detained in Moscow Region on Suspicion of Drug Trafficking

A foreigner has been detained in the Moscow region on suspicion of preparing to sell approximately 270 kilograms of heroin, according to Irina Volk, a spokeswoman for the Russian Interior Ministry.

Seizure of Drugs in Naro-Fominsk

On September 1, police in Naro-Fominsk, near Moscow, seized around 270 kilograms of drugs, believed to be heroin, from a foreigner. However, there was no information available at that time regarding the fate of the foreigner.

Identity of the Detained Individual

The detained individual, who turned out to be a citizen of a Central Asian republic, had the majority of the drugs found at their place of residence, including in the house and a metal container nearby. The seized quantity, approximately 270 kilograms, is currently being examined to confirm if it is indeed heroin.

Criminal Case and Detention

According to Volk, a criminal case has been opened against the defendant under Articles 30 and 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which pertain to the attempted sale of drugs. The defendant has been taken into custody.

Testimony and Drug Origin

The Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation has released a video of the detainee’s testimony, in which he admits to possessing the heroin. The individual claims that the drugs were delivered from Afghanistan.
