Galtier admits Navas found it difficult to stay at Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier seemed unsure if his side could keep goalkeeper Keylor Navas, amid interest from English club Nottingham Forest to include a Costa Rican goalkeeper.
With the winter transfer window closing at the end of this month, the 36-year-old Navas has increased transfer opportunities after losing his starting position in the Paris squad to Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Navas only plays in the French Cup.
“Keylor is a great athlete. He was an example in his work from the very beginning of the season. I completely trust him. But you need to think about how he feels, and the coaches and the president are interested in his needs. “, Galtier said at a press conference on Friday.
Galtier hinted that he would not try to block Navas’ move as news circulated that the Costa Rica goalkeeper had reached an agreement to move to Nottingham Forest.
“Because of his personality and because of his career, we have to respect him and listen to him,” Galtier said.
Navas joined Saint-Germain from Real Madrid in 2019 after winning the Champions League three times with the Spanish side and making 108 appearances with the French champions.
Navas also made 110 appearances for the Costa Rica national team.
