General Director of Montreal explains the club’s rejection of Meshkov in draft

MOSCOW, June 29 – Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes said that the lack of an opportunity to watch Russian hockey player Matvey Michkov play live influenced the club’s decision not to participate in the National Hockey League (NHL) draft.
The ceremony took place on Thursday evening. Montreal chose the fifth number of Austrian defender David Reinbacher. Michkova under the seventh peak took over the Philadelphia Flyers.
