Buffon’s Gratitude and Role
Buffon expressed his gratitude at a press conference: “I am grateful to the president, the Azzurri family, and the coach for the trust they have placed in me. My presence here makes me proud, motivates me, and makes me a happy person.”
He further added, “I’m returning to an environment that I think I know very well. The essence of my role is to make a small contribution to the dynamics that we will experience in the future.”
When asked about being Italy’s greatest goalkeeper, Buffon humbly replied, “I’m the last one who can answer and the last one who wants to answer these things. I think Zoff remains a historic goalkeeper for Italy.”
