Han Zheng Elected Vice President of People’s Republic of China

Beijing, March 10 – Deputies to the National People’s Congress (NPC) Friday elected First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Han Zheng as vice president of the People’s Republic of China, according to the voting results.
The candidates for the positions of president, vice president and chairman of the Central Military Council of the People’s Republic of China were voted on Friday morning at the third plenary session of the first session of the 14th National People’s Congress. General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Xi Jinping assumed the post of state and military commander of the People’s Republic of China.
Born in 1954 in eastern China’s Zhejiang Province, Han Zheng graduated from East China Normal University. After that, his career is almost always connected with Shanghai. From 2003 to 2012, he served as mayor of the city, after which he was promoted to the position of chairman of the CPC Shanghai City Committee. In 2012, he became a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and in 2017 he became a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. In the 2018 parliamentary session, he was appointed. First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
