Krasnodar, May 4 – A criminal case has been opened on the fact of illegal felling of 887 trees in the Kuban, half of which are in the Red Book, and the damage exceeded 12 million rubles, the supervisory authority of the Krasnodar Territory reports.
The administration added that the Azov-Chernomorsk Environmental Prosecutor’s Office conducted an inspection on the territory of the Forest Fund and within the boundaries of a specially protected natural area – the Markutkh Nature Park.
“During the inspection, the fact of illegal felling of 887 trees was established, of which more than 480 are listed in the Red Book of Russia (juniper), and some of the felled trees were more than 100 years old … a criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal cutting).
