IMF Anticipates Challenges to Arise in 2023
Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva expects that the current year 2023 will be full of challenges for the global economy.
“The global economy has been in a turbulent environment for some time, experiencing one shock after another. We expect 2023 to be another challenging year,” the head of the International Monetary Fund said in a speech at the Boao Forum for Asia in China. .
Georgieva pointed out that “the effects of the conflict in Ukraine and the tightening of monetary policy around the world continue to weigh on global GDP growth, which is expected to be less than 3% in 2023.”
The official also pointed out that the problems of the banking sector in countries with developed economies have become an inevitable consequence of the measures of the authorities aimed at combating inflation.
Last Tuesday in Boao on the Chinese island of Hainan, the Asian Economic Forum, unofficially referred to as the East Davos forum, began its work.
The forum was established in 2001 and its tasks are to develop coordination and cooperation between Asian countries, intensify dialogue and economic relations with other regions of the world, create a platform for establishing a dialogue on economic, social and other issues between officials, businessmen, specialists and scientists.
