Nalchik, January 12 – The demand for resorts in Kabardino-Balkaria during the winter holidays was higher than a year ago, according to the Ministry of Regional Resorts.
“During the New Year holidays, from December 31, 2022 to January 8, 2023, 73.7 thousand guests visited the republic, an increase of 5.4 percent over the previous year,” the statement said.
The most popular tourist destinations are the Elbrus Ski Resort, Narzanov Valley Ecopark, Nalchik, Chegem Waterfalls and Blue Lakes.
According to the ministry, in the first four days of the new year, the tourist flow in the Elbrus region increased by 50 percent, but due to adverse weather conditions from January 5 to 8, it decreased sharply. Therefore, the number of tourists there was 57.9 thousand, which is only 4 percent more than last year.
The authorities of Kabardino-Balkaria set the task of bringing the tourist flow to the region to 2 million tourists per year by 2025.
