In Melitopol, the monument to Shevchenko will be moved from Victory Square

Simferopol, January 14 – The acting governor of the Zaporozhye region, Yevgeny Paletsky, said that instead of the monument to Taras Shevchenko on Victory Square in Melitopol, a plaque “City of Military Glory” will be installed.
“Today, after numerous appeals from Melitopol residents, the city administration decided to move the monument to Taras Grigorievich Shevchenko from the central Victory Square … The installation of the City of Military Glory monument will begin in the near future on Victory Square,” Balitsky said on his Telegram channel.

According to him, today several options are being considered for placing a monument to Shevchenko – this is the square near the Shevchenko Library on Drozby Street, the square of Melitopol State University or the Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure. A survey of citizens began on this topic.
