Moscow, December 26 – The Ukrainian Figure Skating Union (UFFK) is asking the International Skating Union (ISU) to exclude Russian Olympic champion Anna Shcherbakova from the list of nominees for skating awards in the category of Most Valuable Figure Skating, according to the official website of the UFFK.
The organization sent two letters. In one of them, the head of the ISU unit, Mikhail Makarov, addressed the head of the ISU Kim Jae-yul on behalf of the athletes, coaches, officials and members of the Football Association. Another was sent to Eric Redford, chairman of the ISU Athletes Committee from the UVFK Athletes Committee, which was chaired by Anna Khnichenkova.
Shcherbakova will compete with U.S. Olympic champion Nathan Chen, Japanese Olympic silver medalist Yuma Kajiyama, Japanese Olympic bronze medalists Ryo Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, French Olympic champion Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron, Japanese Olympic bronze medalist Kaori Sakamoto, and Chinese Olympic champion. Champion Sui Wenjin / Han Cong and Japanese Olympic bronze medalist Shoma Uno.
