It is the latest Mass Shooting in California, and Police say it has left at least Three People Dead and Four More Injured
Three people were murdered, and four others were injured early Saturday morning in a shooting at a multimillion-dollar short-term rental property in a wealthy Los Angeles area, according to authorities.
The gunshot happened in the Beverly Crest area at around 2:30 a.m. At least six mass shootings have occurred in California this month.
Saturday morning, according to Sgt. Frank Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department, the three victims were inside a car.
Sgt. Bruce Borihanh said two of the four patients were brought in private cars and an ambulance to local hospitals, while a police spokesman transported the other two. Borihanh said that two were in critical condition and two were in stable condition. The ages and genders of the victims were not published immediately.
Borihanh said that investigators were attempting to ascertain whether a party or what sort of gathering was taking place at the rented residence.
Borihanh said that police had no suspect information. After the gunfire ended, the area was cordoned off as detectives searched for evidence.
The mid-century mansion is located in Beverly Crest, a secluded enclave in the Santa Monica Mountains with huge, wealthy homes. The house, valued at $3 million, is located in a cul-de-sac and is characterized on online real estate platforms as contemporary, secluded, and equipped with a pool and an outdoor shower.
Officer Jader Chaves of the LAPD said that the agency was unaware whether the residence had a history of noise or other party-related complaints.
The early Saturday morning attack follows a massacre at a dance hall in a Los Angeles neighborhood last week that resulted in 11 fatalities and nine injuries, as well as shootings at two farms near Half Moon Bay that resulted in seven fatalities and one injury.
Last Saturday, 72-year-old Huu Can Tran opened fire at a ballroom dance club in the primarily Asian neighborhood of Monterey Park, where tens of thousands of people were celebrating the Lunar New Year earlier that evening. He traveled to another dance club, but an employee prevented him from entering. Numerous victims were in their 60s and 70s.
Later, when authorities closed up on the vehicle where Tran sat, he committed himself.
On Monday, officials said that a man murdered four people at the mushroom farm where he worked, then drove to a second farm where he had previously worked and killed three more people. Chunli Zhao, age 66, is incarcerated and charged with murder in a workplace violence incident, according to authorities.
The murders have harmed the state, which has the nation’s strictest gun restrictions and the lowest gun mortality rates.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, the United States in 2022 had approximately 600 mass shootings in which at least four persons were killed or wounded.
