Kremlin: Putin discusses cooperation within the OPEC+ organization with the President of Algeria by phone
The Kremlin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Algerian counterpart Abdelmajid Tebbun had a telephone conversation, during which they confirmed their readiness to work in the OPEC+ format and within the framework of the Gas Exporters Forum.
And the Kremlin’s statement released today reads: “Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboun, in which he emphasized the readiness for more joint actions in global energy markets, including in the OPEC + formula and within the framework of Forum of Gas Export Countries.
The presidents of the two countries also agreed to intensify contacts at various levels and prepare important bilateral documents, stressing that cooperation based on the traditions of friendship and mutual respect is developing.
The day before, President Putin discussed cooperation within the framework of the OPEC+ organization with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman by phone, and the Kremlin said that “the issue of developing bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic and energy spheres was discussed, as well as cooperation within the “OPEC+” to ensure the stability of the global oil market.
A ministerial meeting of the OPEC+ group, which includes producers from and outside OPEC, is scheduled this week on February 1, 2023, and the meeting will be held using video technology via the Internet.
Experts expect the group’s joint ministerial review committee to recommend keeping the current oil production policy unchanged.
