Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed that Argentine star Lionel Messi has refused to return to the Catalan club, noting that the latter owes money to Messi until 2025.
And Lionel Messi decided to put an end to his football career in Europe, and move from Paris Saint-Germain to the ranks of the American Inter Miami team.
Barcelona have been working to rebuild Messi during this summer’s Mercato, but the player preferred to stay away from the lights and the pressure and enjoy life with his family in Miami.
And Juan Laporta spoke, according to the Spanish newspaper Marca, saying: “I wish Messi every success and success. Barcelona will pay a huge tribute to Messi on the 125th anniversary of the club’s founding. It would be ideal if we honored him after the opening of the new Camp Nou stadium.
He continued: “We had an agreement with the La Liga to dedicate some of our resources to Messi’s recovery, but his father, Jorge, told me that Messi had a difficult year full of pressure in Paris and now he wants to play. no pressure, so he refused to come back.”
And Juan Laporta added: “We owe money to Messi until 2025 after he delayed receiving his salary during the previous council.”
