Linda Iaccarino, the new CEO of Twitter, has a surprising connection to Dogecoin, the meme-inspired cryptocurrency championed by her predecessor Elon Musk.

According to her Twitter profile, Yaccarino follows several accounts related to Dogecoin and Shiba Inu (SHIB), including official accounts for both the coins and some notable developers and supporters.

Yaccarino, formerly NBCUniversal’s chief advertising officer, was announced as Musk’s replacement on Friday.

She hasn’t publicly commented on her views on the cryptocurrency or how it might fit into Twitter’s plans, but her apparent interest in DOGE suggests she may share some of Musk’s enthusiasm for the meme currency.

Musk, who still owns Twitter, has been an outspoken advocate of Dogecoin and has often hinted at its integration into the social media platform. Last month, it temporarily changed the Twitter logo to an image of a Doge, which drove the coin’s price up by 20%.

He also expressed his desire to make Twitter payments more accessible and open source, in line with some of the core principles of cryptocurrency.

Did Dogecoin make a new friend?

Dogecoin, which started as a joke in 2013, has become one of the most popular and volatile cryptocurrencies. She has a loyal fanbase that calls herself the “Doge Army” and often rally behind Musk’s tweets and endorsements.

Per CoinGecko, the meme coin’s market capitalization is currently just shy of $10 billion, making it the ninth largest cryptocurrency on the list.

Created in 2020 as the “Dogecoin killer,” the Shiba Inu is another meme coin that has gained popularity and attention in recent months. It claims to be an experiment in decentralized community building and has launched a decentralized exchange called ShibaSwap.

The Shiba Inu currently has a market capitalization of over $5 billion, which puts it at number 16 on CoinGecko’s market cap ranking.

While it remains to be seen how Yaccarino will approach cryptocurrencies as the new leader of Twitter, her apparent affinity for Dogecoin and Shiba Inu may indicate that she is open to exploring new possibilities and innovations in the space.
